About this place
The WWF Policoro-Herakleia Oasis, also known as the WWF Oasis Bosco Pantano, is located in Policoro, along the Ionian coast of Basilicata, within the Bosco Pantano Regional Natural Reserve.
This important nature area of about 21 hectares is managed for environmental protection, and it preserves one of the last remaining stretches of coastal lowland forest in southern Italy.
The oasis features damp woodland, marshy areas, sand dunes and Mediterranean vegetation. It is home to many bird species, wild animals and the loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta).
Inside you will find:

- A sea turtle rescue centre.
- An environmental education centre.
- Nature trails and guided walks.
- Educational spaces and activities for school groups.
