About this place
The Albino Pierro house museum is the poet’s birthplace, in the San Michele district of the historic centre of Tursi. Pierro affectionately called it ‘u Paazze, “the palace”. Today it is home to the Albino Pierro Literary Park.
The poet
Albino Pierro (1916-1995) wrote his poems in the dialect of Tursi, an archaic language that with him entered the great poetry of the twentieth century. His works have been translated into many languages, and he was proposed several times for the Nobel Prize. His verses often return to the Rabatana, the ravines and the townspeople.
