Armento

A small Agri valley village, home of Saint Luke the Abbot

Discover Armento

Armento is a small village at about 700 metres in the Agri valley, in an area inhabited since ancient times that has yielded a remarkable number of archaeological finds, some now in major Italian and foreign museums.

The mother church dedicated to Saint Luke the Abbot, rebuilt in 1957, holds the saint’s relics and an old polyptych. The chapel of San Vitale, once the crypt of the old mother church, contains 17th-century frescoes on the saint’s life.
