Campomaggiore

Campomaggiore stands at about 800 metres in the central-eastern part of the province of Potenza. The old village, Campomaggiore Vecchio, laid out in the 18th century by the Counts Rendina with regular streets and services that were modern for the time, was called «the city of utopia»: it was abandoned after the 1885 landslide and its ruins can be visited today.

The new village hosts the Sculpture Park, a trail of works by international artists linking the neighbourhoods to the old village. In summer the ruins become the stage for shows and evening tours.
