Cersosimo

A Pollino village in the Sarmento valley

Discover Cersosimo

Cersosimo is a small village at about 550 metres on the eastern slopes of the Pollino massif, overlooking the middle Sarmento valley inside the Pollino National Park. In the 4th century BC a fortified Lucanian settlement stood on the hilltop at Castello.

Its name recalls the 11th-century Basilian monastery of Kyr-Zosimo, whose remains partly coincide with today’s town hall. The parish church of the Assunta, from the 15th–16th centuries, is worth a visit.
