Discover Colobraro

Colobraro sits at about 630 metres on the slopes of Monte Calvario, looking over the Sinni valley and the Monte Cotugno lake. In nearby villages people superstitiously call it «that village»: a reputation for bad luck born of anecdotes, alleged witches and the research of anthropologist Ernesto de Martino in the 1950s.

Today Colobraro plays with its legend: in summer its lanes become the stage for shows and walks about local folklore and stories. In the old town you’ll find the mother church of San Nicola, the Franciscan convent and the remains of the Carafa castle.

Among olive groves and hills, the area is also known for livestock farming and Lucanian cured meats.
