A small Agri valley village

Gallicchio stands at about 730 metres in the Agri valley, in the south-central part of the province of Potenza. Coins found at Gallicchio Vetere show there was a settlement here as early as the 3rd century BC; the village’s coat of arms shows a cockerel holding an arrow.

In the centre you’ll find the church of Santa Maria Assunta, the church of San Rocco and its neighbourhood, Palazzo Mazziotta and the baronial palace. It’s a quiet stop when exploring the Agri valley, close to Aliano and Missanello.
