Garaguso

A farming village in the upper Cavone valley

Discover Garaguso

Garaguso is a small farming village on the edge of the Lucanian Apennines, in the upper Cavone valley, bordering the Gallipoli Cognato and Lucanian Dolomites Park. The area has been inhabited since prehistory and has yielded important Greek finds, including a fine model temple in Parian marble.

In the upper part of the village, on the site of a medieval fort, stands the 18th-century Palazzo Revertera with its three-arched loggia, now a museum of peasant life. The parish church holds a 15th-century terracotta Madonna.
