Genzano di Lucania

A centre of the upper Bradano, old and new

Discover Genzano di Lucania

Genzano di Lucania stands on a headland at about 590 metres in the upper Bradano valley, on the border with Apulia, and is split into two parts: the old town and the new town. Its name is thought to derive from the Roman Pagus Gentianum.

Its territory includes the castle of Monteserico, a medieval tower standing alone among the hills. On 17 January the village celebrates its patron saint, Saint Anthony the Abbot.
