A small Arbëreshë community of the Vulture

Discover Ginestra

Ginestra stands at about 560 metres in the south-central Vulture area and is one of Basilicata’s Albanian communities, together with Barile, Maschito, San Costantino Albanese and San Paolo Albanese. The village was resettled in 1478 by Greek-Albanian exiles under a grant from Troiano Caracciolo.

The Arbëreshë language and some traditions live on here. Visit the church of San Nicola, from the 15th–16th centuries, and the sanctuary of Santa Maria di Costantinopoli. All around are the Aglianico del Vulture vineyards.
