Guardia Perticara

A stone village with the Orange Flag

Discover Guardia Perticara

Guardia Perticara stands at about 750 metres in the central-eastern part of the province of Potenza, on the border with the province of Matera. It is one of «The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy» and has held the Touring Club Italiano’s Orange Flag since 2011.

The stone-built village has very ancient origins: early Iron Age grave goods have been found at San Vito. Houses with carved portals, narrow lanes and views over the surrounding valleys make it ideal for a slow stroll.
