Lagonegro

Lagonegro stands at about 670 metres in the Noce valley, in the far south-west of Basilicata, at the foot of the Sirino massif and not far from the sea at Maratea. It is the main town of the Lagonegrese area.

In the old village, on the castle hill, stands the co-cathedral of San Nicola; on Via Aldino, the church of the Rosario occupies the site of an ancient temple. On Mount Sirino you’ll find the sanctuary of the Madonna delle Nevi, the destination of a heartfelt pilgrimage, Lake Laudemio and the ski slopes.
