Latronico

Latronico stands at almost 900 metres at the entrance to the Sinni valley, at the foot of Monte Alpi, in the Pollino National Park. It is known for its thermal waters: the historic 1928 spa building now houses the Museum of Spa Culture, while the modern baths are at Calda, where caves inhabited since prehistory have also been found.

The old town is dominated by the basilica of Sant’Egidio Abate, rebuilt in the 19th century after earthquakes, with three naves. Monte Alpi offers some of the finest trails and views in southern Basilicata.
