Discover Marsico Nuovo

Marsico Nuovo spreads over three hills overlooking the upper Agri valley at about 865 metres: the Civita, the highest, with the old town, and the lower Portello and Casale. It is the seat of an ancient diocese, created after the destruction of Grumentum.

In the Civita you’ll find the cathedral of San Giorgio and the church of San Michele Arcangelo, the old Marsico basilica, along with other churches rich in sacred art. In summer the «Case Nuove» area on the Civita hosts music evenings.
