Miglionico

The Malconsiglio castle and Cima's polyptych

Discover Miglionico

Miglionico stands on a hill in the middle Bradano valley, between the Bradano and Basento rivers. It is famous for the Malconsiglio Castle, where in 1485 rebel barons met against King Ferrante of Aragon in the so-called Conspiracy of the Barons.

The mother church of Santa Maria Maggiore holds real treasures: Cima da Conegliano’s 1499 polyptych of eighteen panels, a crucifix by friar Umile da Petralia and a large Baroque organ. Part of the San Giuliano Regional Reserve also lies within its territory.
