Discover Montemilone

Montemilone stands on a rise between 320 and 350 metres, between the Murge plateau and the Bradano depression in north-eastern Basilicata. Some scholars date its founding to 291 BC, after the Roman conquest of Venosa.

Among oak woods stands the sanctuary of the Gloriosa, or Madonna del Bosco, one of the earliest sanctuaries in Basilicata, built over an ancient cave oratory. The old town hall houses MARTE, the Montemilone Land Museum, a multimedia space devoted to the area.
