Pietragalla

The village of the palmenti

Discover Pietragalla

Pietragalla stands on a terraced ledge at about 840 metres, just north-east of Potenza. Its coat of arms, a cockerel on three hills with three towers, tells the story of its name.

The village is famous for its Palmenti Park: a cluster of over a hundred small cellars dug into the rock, with the vats where grapes were trodden, mostly built in the 19th century. The ducal palace and the mother church are also worth seeing. In May the village celebrates its patron saint, Saint Theodosius.
