Rivello

A Byzantine village in the Noce valley, among Italy's most beautiful

Discover Rivello

Rivello stands on a hill at about 480 metres in the Noce valley, a short drive from the sea at Maratea, and joined «The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy» in 2025. With its tightly packed houses and stairways, the village bears the marks of its twin Latin and Greek-Byzantine heritage.

Its most precious monument is the convent of Sant’Antonio, built from 1512 in the lower part of town, with early 17th-century frescoes by Girolamo Todisco, including a rare Crucifixion of the Franciscan Martyrs of Japan. In the centre you’ll find many churches among lanes and small panoramic squares.
