Roccanova

A medieval village between the Agri and Sinni rivers

Discover Roccanova

Roccanova stands at about 650 metres between the Agri and Sinni valleys, bordering Aliano, Sant’Arcangelo and Castronuovo. Its layout is medieval, recorded as the «Universitas Roccae Novae» from 1276; from the village the view reaches the Pollino and the Monte Cotugno lake.

In the oldest part you’ll find noble houses such as Palazzo Fortunato and Palazzo Mendaia and the churches of San Rocco and San Nicola di Bari. The area is known for Grottino di Roccanova DOC wine, aged in caves dug into the tuff. San Rocco is celebrated on 16 August.
