Discover Rotonda

Rotonda stands at about 580 metres at the southern tip of Basilicata, on the border with Calabria, and is the seat of the Pollino National Park. The Lao river runs through its territory, and it is a starting point for hikes towards the Pollino peaks and the Bosnian pines.

A kilometre from the village stands a Marian sanctuary of Byzantine origin, rebuilt in 1558, with a marble statue from 1512. The Pollino Palaeontology and Natural History Museum displays the remains of an ancient elephant and a hippopotamus found at Calorie.
