Discover Ruvo del Monte

Ruvo del Monte stands at about 640 metres in north-western Basilicata, in the Vulture area, on the border with Irpinia. Excavations begun in the 1970s have uncovered over a hundred tombs with rich grave goods from the 7th–5th centuries BC.

The mother church, medieval in origin and rebuilt after the 1694 earthquake, is the heart of the village. The area, among woods and hills, offers views of Mount Vulture and the Ofanto valley.
