San Costantino Albanese

An Arbëreshë Pollino village and the Flight of the Eagle

Discover San Costantino Albanese

San Costantino Albanese stands at about 650 metres in the Sarmento valley, in the heart of the Pollino National Park. It was founded in 1534 by Albanian exiles and keeps the Arbëreshë language and the Greek-Byzantine rite.

On the second Sunday of May, for the Madonna della Stella, the «nusàzit», traditional firework puppets, are set alight. The village is also known for the Flight of the Eagle, a steel cable on which you fly suspended over the Sarmento valley.
