Sasso di Castalda

The Bridge to the Moon and the Apennine woods

Discover Sasso di Castalda

Sasso di Castalda stands at about 950 metres in the Appennino Lucano Val d’Agri Lagonegrese National Park, near Monte Pierfaone and its ski slopes. Founded around 1068, it lies close to the ancient Via Herculea.

It is famous for the Ponte alla Luna, two Tibetan bridges 95 and 300 metres long suspended over a gorge. Nearby are the Costara beech wood, the red deer wildlife area and the hamlet of Manche; in the village, the churches of the Immacolata and San Rocco.
