Spinoso

Spinoso stands on a hillside at the foot of Monte Raparo, on the southern shore of the Pietra del Pertusillo lake in the Agri valley. Tradition says it grew from an ancient settlement called Carro Nuovo, at Tempagnata.

The village has many churches and chapels, from the mother church of Santa Maria Assunta to its two churches of San Rocco, «of the People» and «of the Nobles», and the Palazzo delle Colonne. In May the statue of the Madonna dei Termini is carried to its chapel on the border with Sarconi.
