Tito lies on the watershed between the Ionian and Tyrrhenian seas, in the Melandro area, a few kilometres from Potenza: streams rising in its territory flow to different seas. The village originally stood higher up, north-east of Monte Carmine.

Its territory holds the Norman tower and the ruins of ancient Satrianum, destroyed according to tradition around 1450 and never rebuilt. Today Tito is also an important industrial centre of the province.
