Trecchina

Trecchina lies in the hinterland of the Lucanian Tyrrhenian coast, among the Apennines, with a cool summer climate that makes it pleasant when the coast is crowded. The heart of the village is the large Piazza del Popolo, with the church of San Michele Arcangelo (1857), one of the largest in Basilicata.

On the summit of Monte Santa Maria, at almost 1,100 metres, stands the sanctuary of the Madonna del Soccorso, with views reaching the Gulf of Policastro. The old village holds the church of San Giovanni Battista. The feast of the patron saint San Michele is celebrated at the end of September.
