Trivigno stands on a hill at about 735 metres in the central-eastern part of the province of Potenza, bordering the Lucanian Dolomites. The fief of «Trivinea» is recorded as early as Norman times.

In the village you can visit the mother church of San Pietro Apostolo, palaces such as Palazzo Russo and Palazzo Coronati and, in the countryside, the church of Sant’Antonio at Epitaffio. Nearby lies the Ponte Fontanelle lake. In January there’s the bonfire night for Saint Anthony the Abbot.
