Carbone

A village in the Serrapotamo valley, truffle country

Discover Carbone

Carbone is a small village at about 700 metres, among the woods of the Serrapotamo valley in the south of the province of Potenza.

Its name is linked to the Basilian monastery of Saints Elias and Anastasius, one of the most important Greek-rite monastic centres of medieval Basilicata, whose ruins stand near the village.

The valley’s woods are rich in truffles, including the prized white truffle: every year Carbone hosts a truffle fair, a chance to discover the local produce and cooking.
