Laurenzana

Laurenzana stands at about 850 metres in the central-eastern part of the province of Potenza, near the Gallipoli Cognato Park and the Lucanian Dolomites. The first settlement grew in the Middle Ages around the rock, where the ruins of the castle can still be seen.

The area is rich in woodland, such as the Abetina di Laurenzana regional reserve. At the table, try Laurenzana-style potatoes («patan abbrazzat») with egg, sausage, aged cheese and horseradish, and nuglia, the village’s traditional cured sausage.
